Taking fall family photos of this beautiful mama and her daughter was an absolute joy! She is the best mom, incredibly strong and loves her daughter beyond words can even begin to describe. The mother and daughter duo share the sweetest connection. Throughout our session I found myself thinking that this adorable girl is so lucky to have a mom like Ali. They laughed, played, tickled and snuggled each other during our time together. When I look back at these motherhood images I can feel their authentic connection and genuine adoration for one another.
STYLING
This mama and I worked together on styling and we used Style and Select to choose their outfits. She wanted to stick to a warm, neutral pallet which is perfect for the golden sunshine here in California.
Ali chose her daughters retro jumper first and paired it with the cutest sandals. She found her dress at Girlfriends Boutique in Pleasanton and together it was the perfect 70s vibe with a modern twist. The dress was a light material and it gave movement to the photos and looked incredible on. She added a hat in for a fun accessory and even her daughter wanted to try it on for a few photos. Styling is so important to a photo session and I love helping my clients put together outfits that coordinate and compliment each other.
LOCATION
When discussing locations for our photo session Ali expressed that she wanted a place where her daughter could run and play and that we could see the sunset. Located just outside of Sacramento, I knew this park in Rocklin would be perfect! Perched on a hill the view is breathtaking. As the sun sets you get to experience every last minute of light from the top of the hill. In the spring there is lots of green but as the weather gets warmer the green turns to brown. Additionally, in the fall the trees loose their leaves and the hillside is full of browns, reds, golden yellow and oranges.
DOGS ARE PART OF THE FAMILY TOO
Ali wanted to make sure her Goldendoodle, Raley, was included in the family photos. I love when families include their dogs as long as they give me a heads up so I can ensure that the location is dog friendly. This particular park in Rocklin was perfect for their beloved four legged friend. They even brought treats to bribe their doodle and she performed so well. And if you have a doodle you know they are most certainly a part of the family.
GET IN THE FRAME MOM!
Having the chance to capture the beautiful connection that is motherhood is near and dear to my heart. Moms don’t get in the photos often enough as they are often the ones behind the camera, taking photos of their children. But mamas, get in the frame! Even if you don’t feel like it, it is the best gift to give your children. One day this little girl will look back and see how beautiful her mother was, the special connection they had and the unconditional love they had for each other.
